Overview

Make the Most of Your Forage

The Merge Maxx® MM 950 & MM 1090 center-delivery hay mergers are ideal for larger farms and custom operators who depend on reliable and adaptable mergers to increase their efficiency.

With up to 36’ (11 m) of working width, KUHN Merge Maxx MM 950 & MM 1090 hay mergers are known for their versatility using center-, side- or split-delivery, in a wide variety of forages. Small-diameter pickups create optimal forage pickup and increased capacity, while the floating windguard creates a smooth, consistent windrow for easy harvesting. The AT-10 control box allows for user-friendly and simple operation, without compromising machine performance.

Features

Multiple Delivery Options

The MM 950 and 1090 hay mergers offer eight different delivery options. With the capability to merge crop to the center, left, right, split, these mergers can adapt to any conditions to create windrows to best meet their harvesting needs.

Spring Suspension System

A simple and effective mechanical suspension system is utilized for superior flotation. This design features four springs located on each head and eliminates complicated hydraulic requirements. Each pickup has a large pivoting angle of +/- 10° and a suspension range of 20” (50.8 cm) (-8” (20.3 cm) / + 12” (30.5 cm)).

AT-10 Controller

The AT-10 is a non-ISOBUS controller to adjust forage delivery, individual unit lift, belt pickup start/stop, and setting the machine from transport and work position. This controller is very user friendly to simplify operation of the machine. The working width from center to side delivery is adjusted via the DA valve.

Narrow and Simple Transport

The simple folding design allows quick transition from field to road. Transport is a narrow 9'10” (3.0 m) wide and transport height is 11’10” (3.6 m). Field to transport position is accomplished quickly as only one hydraulic valve per head is used for folding.

Small-Diameter Pickups

The small-diameter pickup allows for optimal forage collection in in both light and heavy crops. Rotational speed of each pickup can be reduced to preserve the leaves of delicate forage. The cam track design creates an effective path of transfer from the tines to the conveyor belt for improved capacity. The plastic strippers excel in wet conditions to improve crop flow from the pickup to the conveyor.

Roller Windguard

The roller windguard automatically adjusts to the amount of forage and guides crop to the belt to obtain uniform, fluffy windrows. The design eliminates roping to ensure easy harvesting.

Heavy-Duty Belt Conveyors

Commercial-grade belt conveyors allow the crop to be effectively transitioned into the windrow, regardless of discharge side. The conveyor belt is self-cleaning and requires no tracking adjustments. Each conveyor has an easy-to-access splice for fast removal or replacement, if necessary due to maintenance and normal wear.

A quick-release belt tensioning system simplifies storage and routine adjustment. Easy adjustment from one side maintains uniform pressure over the width of the belt. It is recommended to take the tension off of the belts between cuttings and during the off season.

Floating Skid Shoes

Dual, wide skid shoes allow each head to rapidly adapt to rolling field conditions while maintaining very low ground pressure. Floating skid shoes are a KUHN exclusive. The pivoting action allows the pickups to float over pivot tracks and rough terrain. Additionally, the special shape and pivoting of the shoe allows for self-cleaning when lifted into headland position to eliminate crop buildup. The skid shoes are reversible on their mounts for even wear and longer life.

Hydraulic Controls

The MM 950 and 1090 require two tractor hydraulic valves to control the raising/lowering of the heads from transport to headland or working position. The suspension system on the mergers utilizes a slotted link, so the tractor hydraulic valves do not need to be put in the float position.

The hydraulic drive pumps oil through the main hydraulic blocks on the back of each head to run all the functions including pickup speed, belt direction, and pickup height. All of these functions are electronically controlled via an ISOBUS terminal.

2-Point Hitch

The specially designed 2-point hitch makes hookup quick and easy. The swiveling headstock eliminates driveline chatter and allows up to 90-degree turns. A hydraulic pump dedicated to each head is housed within the hitch. The hitch on the MM 701 is Cat. 2/3N/3 quick hitch compatible. The hitch on the MM 890 is Cat. 2/3N/3/4N quick hitch compatible.

Swathboard

The optional right side swathboard mimics the windrow formation of a rotary rake. With this simple bolt-on device, you can make a well-formed, boxy windrow, well suited for a baler. Additionally, forage harvester operators will find it improves windrow formation even further, increasing harvester efficiency

Roller Kit

Optional rollers create additional header flotation in abrasive conditions, reducing friction. When not needed, the rollers retract for normal working conditions to take advantage of the full contact surface of the wide shoes.
